My mother loves going hunting. She goes deer hunting every year. She stocks her freezer with deer meat and has the hides treated. She was not always interested in deer hunting. She grew up a city girl. Her second husband was into deer hunting. His idea of a vacation was to go hunting. She became hooked after their first trip. She takes just as much pride in her hunting skill as he does. They have also hunted bear, moose and mountain goat. One year they spent their vacation hunting buffalo. It was not as much of a challenge as hunting deer seeing as the buffalo was bred and raised for hunting. She liked the meat though. I remember growing up thinking everyone ate like we did. We had bear roast, not roast beef. Spaghetti sauce usually included bear, deer and goat not hamburger. It was not until I moved out on my own I realized how good I had it. You cannot buy bear or deer at the grocery store. Though, I did find a place that sells buffalo.
